Doughnuts in Neapolitan Flavours

I got just a little sidetracked before making item #5 on my "30 Day of Polymer Clay Food Prompt" list, the three doughnuts in Neapolitan flavours, because I wanted to try and make a miniature table to add to my bakery and turn into a bakery/cafe.

I can plan all I want, but life is in the side tracks. Am I right?

The table is a little wonky, but for my first ever table in this French country inspired style, I'm very pleased with it. I was initially going to make it smaller, but I only had one wooden disk left in this size and no tools to cut it smaller; but then I thought that I'd probably want it bigger to be able to arrange lots of things on it, as indeed I did.

I made two stacks of 3 doughnuts each in the aforementioned flavours (I won't say Neapolitan again, because Neapolitan is a long word and saying Neapolitan again might slightly irritate you, no matter how much you like Neapolitan flavoured food ^_^) which, in case you didn't know, consist of: chocolate, vanilla and strawberry. I now realize that I don't know why, so I'll have to look it up.

The chocolate doughnut is covered in sprinkles and the one with strawberry icing has 2 intersecting lines of icing in the other two flavours, as does the doughnut with vanilla icing, only you can't see it because I decided to sandwich it between the other two doughnuts. You'll have to take my word for it.

To go with the stacks, I made a fourth bitten doughnut in two different flavours, chocolate and strawberry, and they are both covered in sprinkles.

I feel I should mention the doughnuts are slightly scented. Yum.

Well, I'm off to make some decisions about what sort of chocolate cake to make for the next prompt.

Five down, twenty-five to go.

Thank you so much for reading and I'll catch you next time polymer clayers,

Love, Mai

PS: In case I left you wondering why these three flavours are known as Neapolitan: Neapolitan ice cream was named in the late 19th century as a reflection of its presumed origins in the cuisine of the Italian city of Naples, and the many Neapolitan immigrants who brought their expertise in frozen desserts with them to the United States. Chocolate, strawberry and vanilla were the most popular flavours so they became the standard in the United States at the time of introduction.

Now we know ;)
